I am very pleased with the improvement that the students of 71FI are showing. They speak French in class almost all the time. Their reading skills are greatly improving. They have greatly improved their understanding and use of the present tense.
Our primary focus in second semester will be to refine our speaking skills. We will be doing a wide variety of activites to gain confidence and clarity in our spoken French. Today we started doing an activity called "Mini débat". Students brainstormed a long list of interesting debate topics. Some examples are: Cats are better than dogs; Coke is better than Pepsi; the moon is better than the sun; Cheech is better than Chong, etc. We also brainstormed the critera required to be successful in a debate. We will keep practising these skills and then we will do debates in front of the class to be evaluated.
An excellent first step on our journey toward better oral French skills.
